This page is a placeholder standing in for the real thing. The passphrase runs in the browser, so it keeps out casual visitors and nothing more — treat everything here as public until real accounts exist.

• Set up proper member loginsReal accounts with individual passwords and password reset — not one shared phrase.

Names We Are Using Confirm

The event lists name real organizations and venues. They came from the organizer's notes, so they may well be agreed already — but if they are not, naming them publicly is a commitment made on someone else's behalf. Each needs a yes or a removal.

• Ochsner Children’sListed as the December beneficiary. The most exposed of these — naming a beneficiary publicly before there is an agreement can cause real problems with the institution.
• Keep Louisiana BeautifulListed as an April event. Real nonprofit; confirm the krewe is actually participating under that name.
• The Vault, Algiers PointListed as the Mardi Gras brunch venue. Confirm it is booked.
• F.E.S.T. Weekend and the Go Vote CampaignConfirm these are the krewe's own events rather than someone else's that we are attending.

Page Transition: Falling Through Time Idea

Clicking between subpages should not just load the next page. First a flicker of photographs running backwards through the city's history, then forwards again to the present, then the page arrives — a brief struggle to work out what year you are standing in, before the site settles. Blocked on finding the photographs.

• Find the photographsSix to twelve, oldest to newest. Library of Congress and The Historic New Orleans Collection for the historic ones — check rights per image, not per collection. Present-day shots of our own are cleanest.
• Sort out a Katrina imageThe hard one. Nearly every well-known Katrina photograph is copyrighted press work. Public-domain options are mostly federal: FEMA, NOAA, Coast Guard, Army Corps.
• Decide whether Katrina belongs on the public siteIt changes the register of the whole site, and this is the krewe's front door as well as a personal one. Worth deciding on purpose rather than by default.
• Build itProbably the View Transitions API, frames preloaded so it never stalls on a slow connection. If an image has not loaded, skip straight to the page.
• Honor prefers-reduced-motionAnyone with that setting on gets an ordinary instant navigation, no sequence at all.
• Keep the flicker out of the 3–50 Hz bandRapid full-screen flashing in that range can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Slow dissolves and held frames, not a strobe. The disorientation should come from the images being out of time with each other, not from the flicker rate.
• Cap it at about a second, and make it skippableDisorienting once is an effect. Disorienting on every click is a website nobody uses. Consider running it only on the first navigation of a session.

Before Sharing Widely Soon

• Confirm the meeting datesEverything after the first meeting is marked tentative because the organizer's notes marked it that way.
• Confirm info@bulbancha.org receives mailIt is the only contact route on the whole site right now.
• Have someone read the “What is Bulbancha” copyIt makes historical claims about a Choctaw word and Indigenous history. Worth a careful read by someone with standing to check it before it goes out under the krewe's name.
• Decide how to credit the skyline artworkCurrently captioned “Concept illustration.” Decide whether to note that it is AI-generated.
• Point kreweofbulbancha.org at the siteDomain is already registered; it needs connecting to Cloudflare Pages.
• Sort out the email domainThe site lists info@bulbancha.org, but the domain we own is kreweofbulbancha.org. Either the krewe controls both, or that address needs changing.

• Real About Us copy from the organizersWhat is there now was written from the mission statement. It is a starting point, not final.
• Officers and founding committeeNames, roles, photos.
• The origin storyWho started the krewe and why.
• PhotographsThe site has zero real photography. Even a few shots from an interest meeting would change how it feels.
• An FAQDues, time commitment, who can join, what “charter member” means.
• Settle the parade questionIs there a 2027 parade, or is the first season events only? The site says nothing either way.

Features

• Wire up the interest formThe markup is finished; it sends nowhere. Formspree is the fastest route; a Cloudflare Function keeps it in-house.
• Email listPick a provider and connect the “email me” checkbox to it.
• Social links in the footerInstagram and Facebook at minimum.
• A calendar the organizers can editDates are hardcoded today. An embedded calendar would stop that being a developer task.
